John Spiess, General Manager

John joined the Heritage Club in 2009. In his role as General Manager, he oversees all areas of the club and supports the various department heads. Prior to his arrival he was the General Manager/Director of Golf at the Canyon Ridge Club, located near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Located atop Lookout Mountain, the club is one of the most scenic in the country. John also worked for the PGA Tour as the General Manager/Director of Golf at the TPC at Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The club is the home of the St. Jude Classic. Prior to moving south, he was the Director of Club Operations at the High Lands Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio for many years. A native of Archbold, Ohio, John graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Professional Golf Management and Marketing. He was elected to PGA membership in 1988 and became a Master Professional in 1998. He has been very active in the PGA of America having served on the Southern Ohio Board of Directors from 1993-1996. He was elected Section Secretary for 1997-98, and Vice-President for 1999-2000. He also served on the Tennessee PGA Board of Directors in 2008 as President of the Chattanooga PGA chapter. He was also the recipient of the Bill Strausbaugh award for the Chattanooga Chapter in 2008. John is also a member of the Club Managers Association of America. John and his wife, Diane, are the parents of two - Ryan and Courtney.

  David Sykes, Head Golf Professional

David has been Head Golf Professional at Heritage Golf Club since the course opened in Fall 2001 and was a Head Golf Professional for eight years prior to joining Heritage Club. He completed PGA Business School and was elected to the PGA membership in 1991. David manages all golf operations, directs Member golf tournaments and events, and is responsible for planning and executing golf outings for guests. He is a PING Certified Club Fitter and has managed the Heritage Golf Schools program since its inception in 2002. He has been teaching golf to all levels of players since1987 and especially enjoys teaching junior golfers. Golf runs in his family, Davids father is the mens golf coach at NC State. He and his wife, Dawn, are the parents of three children - Alison, Samantha and Jackson.






 
 

Tami Bright, Membership & Marketing Director

Tami combined her love of the game of golf with her sales background when she joined Heritage in 2007. She is responsible for recruiting and orientation of new members for Heritage Golf Club and Heritage Swim & Tennis Club and for ongoing communication with members. In addition, Tami coordinates member social events and handles Club marketing through advertising, promotional activities and community events. Originally from East Tennessee, she attended Tennessee Technological University. Tami raised her family in the Fuquay-Varina area where she spent many years coaching softball and being actively involved in youth sports activities. She and her husband Bruce enjoy traveling, playing golf, competing in tournaments throughout the year and are avid ECU fans. They have three adult daughters and three grandchildren.

 
Lee Andrews, Facilities Director
 
Lee was born and educated in Raleigh. Following a five year apprenticeship with the owner of Southern Structural Solutions, he ran his own successful remodeling business for 10 years before joining the Heritage Club. In addition to his responsibilities of overseeing maintenance at all Heritage Club facilities, Lee manages all operations of the Heritage Lake and Heritage View Swimming Pool Complexes and acts as Club Liaison for the Heritage Betas Swim Team which consists of over 175 children each summer. Lee is a graduate of the National Institute of Golf Management. He and his wife, Carla, are the parents of Lilly and Hunter.

 

 Jeff Dowdle, Executive Chef

Jeff’s specialty in low country cuisine began during his training in Charleston, SC. He worked in several downtown Charleston restaurants before his two year stint as executive chef at Rosebank Farms Café on Kiawah Island. After moving to Wake Forest, Jeff owned and operated Burkenstock’s in the historic downtown area before joining Heritage. During the renovation of the Heritage Golf Clubhouse in 2007, Jeff oversaw the change from a golf club grill to the concept of 1250 Heritage, providing a casual, elegant dining establishment befitting the community and atmosphere of Heritage. Jeff’s menus and specialties have been featured in Metro Magazine, Triangle East Magazine and Heritage Magazine. Jeff and his wife, Amy are the parents of four children - Clayton, Baity, Walker and Campbell. The family is active in Wake Forest area philanthropic projects.

 Pat Watson, Club Accountant

Pat was born in Greenville and moved to Raleigh as a young girl. She graduated from Hardbarger Business College with a Senior Accounting Degree. Pat has worked for many years in the accounting field with a background in the insurance industry and customer service. She met her husband, Jim, while he was attending NCSU. They moved to Charlotte where they raised their two boys and volunteered their time to promote youth sports in that area. They returned to Raleigh in 2004 and Pat found the perfect job at Heritage where she is responsible for billing and accounting. Pat’s hobbies include bridge and she enjoys her grandson as often as possible.
